Eye exams for blind children

Vision is vital to so many everyday functions, from finger reading to playing sports. We offer free eye exams and subsidized prescription glasses to those with weak eyes, so no child has to squint as they look to their future.

special needs

Raising a healthy and happy child is a particular challenge for disadvantaged families dealing with children who have special needs. We offer these families daily help in the form of tutoring and other activities.

Some children have more toys than they know how to handle, while others have few toys to speak of. We strive to bring together toys and youth in need with our year-long toy exchange program.

Extracurricular activities

When school is over for the day, not all children have a comfortable environment to come home to. Our after-school programs provide a warm place to hang out, study, play, eat and relax.

Numerous studies have shown that caring for animals helps people overcome learning disabilities, emotional challenges, and more. Not every family can have a pet, so our pet center allows children to enjoy the benefits of having a pet without the expense.

Hakim

Hakim belongs to children with special needs. Because he is blind, he was hit by a car. Later, Zainab, who later became a co-founder of HFC, found out about his sad story and why he couldn't go to school anymore.

Thanks to donations, Hakim was able to go back to school. He became a good student and can develop his talents.

Ebinet

This is Ebinet Mudola, 16y. She comes from a very poor family with 4 children. The father is an alcoholic and unemployed. The mother earns the money for the family as a cleaning lady.

Ebinet is a good student. She is in 2nd grade at the 'St. Victory Girls' Catholic High School in Machakos.

Later she would like to study fashion and design.

The school fees are paid by us.
